    I’m not sure how well that experiment would work for me because the second I am not studying, on social media, or reading (or out with friends, which is rare), I am daydreaming. I daydream a lot, especially if I have music, but it happens regardless. My daydreams often play out like fantasy novels, and I theorize that this is because during the worst/ most “traumatic” part of my life, I was a huge fan of fantasy novels (which I read quite rarely now). Does anyone else do this?

    I‘ve lived my whole life with technology and the internet, i cant imagine living without it even though i know how bad it is for me and my mentality. Trying to cut it all out slowly but surely and finally start living. It’s gonna be tough tho especially cause of my boring job, where i can‘t even make it through one day without watching youtube on the side or something, because there’s nothing engaging to do, just doing mundane bs, being surrounded by uninteresting people and waiting for my shift to end.

    Even though I'm not attending university, as of yet, I'm planning on this event to be brought to fruition soon enough, I feel as if I must thank you for what may be, unwittingly not known, the fact that there are other humans in this realm of reality who also enjoy literature, writing as intensely & as much as I do, causes me to feel far less strange as well "out of sink", than with the rest of the world. So having a kindred spirit, allows me to be inspired with a surge of energy to continue my pursuits without abandon. Wholeheartedly with just a touch of the required recklessness needed, to out shine any quotidian levels of dedication far easier than thought possible. With this in mind I thank you.

    I watched the whole clip just for this advice:"don't look up every word at the dictionary" and "practice the language in it's real world context". 9 minutes are way to long for these 2 points, and the second one is stupid, I have no idea what it would mean to pratice a language in it's real world context, does it meam you read only news? Or you only talked to people? Should I watch another 9 minutes clip for the answer?

    "... there are stupid older people out there *checks if the coast is clear*" you are so right, I took a lot of detrimental advice from such older people only to realize I'm just perpetuating their screw ups lol, I gotta say unsolicited advices are the symbol of their advice. Funnily enough, I come from a Christian background, where its common for old people to emphasize this, but having a word with my father of confession. He softly said, the commandment is to honor thy father and mother, not obey. As in heed all and any instructions. The semantics of this wording blew my mind.

    Thanks for this! I just recently started reading Byung-Chul Han (have read Burnout Society, Psychopolitics, and Transparency Society) and one term his translator uses a lot is "dispositive" and I'm not 100% clear on what this means other that some vague idea of it maybe meaning something like "the resolution of a legal issue". Any ideas?

    Of course the narrative is concocted to sell a book. There was never a chance Wittgenstein and Ayers would kill philosophy and was never revived. It's just a concocted story put together by exaggerating the impact of Witrgenstein and Ayers. Their position is quite retarded, actually. Any ways story was concocted to write a book. So unethical.

    Thanks for the great video Robin! I'll be writing my bachelor's thesis in philosophy next semester and am a little bit scared. Still, I feel like the hardest part is to find a good research topic. I've got so many ideas that I want to write about but then I find myself questioning whether they're even suitable for an argumentative research thesis and whether they're too broad or narrow, and so on. So for me the biggest struggle is where to start? I already have a professor in mind I want to ask to be my supervisor, but again, I want to approach him only once I have a rough topic or at least direction I want to go into. Do you have any tipps or words of encouragement for such a situation? Thanks in advance and best regards! <3

    • @RCWaldun
      @RCWaldun 8 дней назад

      What you’re going through perfectly normal. I didn’t have a clue what I wanted to write about until 6 months after I started my thesis writing period. If your supervisor is solid, then they’ll definitely factor in shifts in research focus and having a rough idea is more than enough at this stage. Another thing: supervisors are there to mentor you, not for you to please. And I think this is the biggest mindset shift when we advance from undergrad coursework to graduate research: now it’s your turn to focus on something you’re passionate about instead of conforming to a determined rubric. Best of luck and remember to have fun during the process! :)

    i think i disagree to view this ability of divided attention with a negative view, this after all just emphasizes our different focusing abilities, whether it be divided or not, having divided focus does not make a man a mere wild animal, i would like to view it in fact as an appreciation to its ability to cater to different tasks at once. the negative side i guess, is when a man is ALWAYS having divided attention - as it now shallows the mind
